OUR FAVORITE
CPK-17 PerfecTemp 1.7-Liter Stainless Steel Cordless Electric kettle, 1.7 L. It is top rated and among best electric tea kettles under $100.
This thing is great. It quickly boils water, keeps it at that temperature for a time if I don’t get to it right away and is very easy to use and clean. We only use it two or three times as week, but it works really well. It does make a little more noise than a standard kettle while heating, but it’s not intrusive or anything. The 1.7L capacity is enough to heat water to make a nice big pitcher of iced tea … and it only takes a few minutes for it to bring the water to a boil. Highly recommended. [Source Amazon]

If you are looking for a simple kettle that does its job reliably, safely and quickly and does not cost much, you will find the right model in the Philips HD4646 / 20 . Our test showed that it is the best kettle when you look at the price / performance ratio. There are no extras such as temperature selection, but not everyone needs them. The only drawback: the inexpensive Philips is completely made of plastic. If you prefer stainless steel, you can use our less expensive recommendation from Severin.

One Buyer’s Review:
This kettle is so beautiful that my wife decided to put it in the office instead of in a kitchen, it’s easy use and easy clean. Love it
The Severin 3364 is made entirely of stainless steel both inside and outside. Unfortunately, it also gets very hot and you can burn yourself quickly. With a lever mechanism on the lid, it can be operated with one hand and it costs little more than our favorite. To heat a liter of water, however, it takes almost a minute longer than our favorite. If that doesn’t bother you and you prefer to heat water in stainless steel rather than plastic, then the Severin is the right choice.
For those who do not want to limit themselves to boiling water but need full control over the brewing temperature, the Arendo Elegant is the best choice. The exact choice of temperature is particularly interesting for tea lovers, but even coffee nerds do not want to brew noble varieties with water at 100 degrees, because then bitter substances arise. The kettle is made entirely of stainless steel on the inside, does not get hot thanks to the plastic housing and has a temperature selection and warming function. The current temperature is shown to the degree on a small display.
Kettles with a glass carafe are currently in vogue. We are not really convinced of this, because the limescale does not make the glass look appetizing after a very short time. But admittedly: boiling water looks cool, especially when it is subtly lit like the Aigostar Adam 30GOM . The processing and the quick cooking performance are also good. If you really want glass, the Aigostar is a good choice.
The Stelton Emma is a real eye-catcher . It is simply designed and cuts a good figure in any design kitchen. However, it is also kept very reduced. There is no measuring scale and the lid is simply placed on top like a pot – without a folding mechanism. The boiling time for water is one of the slowest in the test field – but it does look really nice for that.

Hard to imagine without
We need hot or boiling water, especially for tea and coffee, but also for the bouillon or 5-minute terrine. Therefore, a kettle is part of the kitchen equipment in every second US household. The advantage over a stove: a kettle brings the water to a boil faster and uses less energy – especially in comparison to the widespread glass ceramic or electric stoves.
Faster and more energy efficient than the stove
A stove with induction, on the other hand, can keep up with a kettle in terms of speed and energy consumption – especially the models with the so-called boost function. However, induction cookers are expensive and you need pots with magnetic bases so that the heat is generated directly in the pot.
Just to boil water is not worth buying an induction hob – after all, there are kettles for less than $20. Even if additional features such as a keep-warm function or a temperature pre-selection are required – functions that a stove usually does not offer – there is no need to spend a three-digit sum.
Which material is best?
Kettles are available with plastic, stainless steel or glass housings. The advantage of plastic is that it does not get quite as hot as stainless steel or glass containers. But children can still burn themselves on pure plastic kettles. The least dangerous are kettles in which a stainless steel cooking vessel is encased in plastic. At most they will be lukewarm.
But not everyone wants to heat their daily water in a plastic container. This is because chemical compounds from plastic can pass into water when heated. The manufacturers promise that the quantities are completely harmless, but many still don’t feel comfortable with them. Kettles with stainless steel or glass jars are then the better choice.
However, in most stainless steel and glass models, plastic is still hidden inside – especially on the lid and the outlet. Where the water is brought to a boil, there is usually no plastic.
Also Tested These Kettle Brands
There were also good kettles in the rest of the test field.
With temperature selection
The Bosch TWK8611P has so far been our winner in the kettle with temperature selection category. Compared to our new recommendation, the Arendo Elegant , it only performs worse due to its rather large base, the Arendo is significantly more space-saving and, above all, extremely accurate in terms of temperature.
The Bosch kettle heats the water to either 70, 80, 90 or 100 degrees Celsius. With a thermometer, we were able to check that the device is very precise and deviates by a maximum of half a degree Celsius. There is also a keep-warm function that keeps the water at temperature for 30 minutes.
When the TWK8611P has reached the desired temperature, its station will emit a short beep. It also sounds when switched on, and the numbers on the base also light up.
With a maximum capacity of 1.5 liters and a duration of 3:10 minutes to bring one liter to a boil, it resembles our favorite from Philips. In contrast , the Bosch TWK8611P is perfectly isolated. The jug only becomes lukewarm outside, even with boiling water. This prevents burns on the housing.
Bosch also offers automatic switch-off, overheating and dry-run protection. The scale is behind the handle, but is still easy to read. We also liked that the water flows very evenly and cleanly into the cup when pouring – there is no splashing or spilling next to it.
However, you open the kettle by pressing the button that the manufacturer has placed centrally on the hinged lid. It is therefore not possible to operate it completely with just one hand, as Bosch promises.
The Graef WK701 also performed well, offering not only temperature selection and a warming function, but also childproofing .
However, the housing is not as well insulated as the Bosch, for example, and the scale is attached to the inside of the jug – and it is not exactly cheap. For that he has a nice design.
The DeLonghi Distinta also offers a temperature selection and a keep warm function. However, the housing behind the handle is not insulated. That would not be a big problem if there was a little more space between the handle and the jug. Unfortunately, this is not the case, so we burned our fingers several times in the test. So we can only advise against the Distinta.
The Russel Hobbs Precision also offers a temperature selection and even a keep warm function. In practice, we are not completely convinced by either. We measured significant differences here between the displayed and the actual temperature and especially the keep warm function did not work well here. The Arendo Elegant is definitely the better choice.
Despite the plastic, it unfortunately gets quite hot and the processing isn’t the best either. In addition, the opening is too small to properly clean the device. A plus point is the illuminated display and the shape of the handle is comfortable in the hand.
With Stainless Steel Jug
In our test, the WMF Skyline did a good job, with a time of 2:38 minutes, it was even the second fastest kettle. However, there seem to be processing problems with this model. A large number of buyers report that the scale window is torn, the spring in the lid is defective and, above all, rust. Of course, this should not happen with a device that is constantly in contact with water. Therefore we cannot recommend the WMF Skyline.
The Klarstein Aqua Vita Chalet is possibly in his 60s look an alternative to Stelton Emma. However, the jug gets very hot and the scale, which is also on the inside, is very difficult to read. On the other hand, we find the thermometer on the outside good, which is not only suitable for decoration, but actually works quite reliably and is therefore very practical. If you like the look, the kettle also comes in several different colors.
We really liked the stainless steel cooker Philips HD9357 / 10 , which has received little criticism. It looks good, boils the water quickly and has everything a kettle needs – but not anymore. If you buy it, you are not doing anything wrong, but at around $50 the device is quite expensive for a model without any extras.
The Philips HD9350 / 90 does not look very different from other stainless steel stoves and, like many other models, comes with a replaceable lime screen. We were disturbed by the exposed pole, which we can only guess about. Whether the current is conducted through it or whether it serves to stabilize the lid – it is definitely difficult to clean, which precludes a recommendation for us. The large opening of the kettle is positive, the lid can also be opened with one hand. Unfortunately, like most appliances, the Philips also gets very hot outside when cooking.
The two WMF products from our second test round also failed to convince us. The WMF Bueno is obviously well made, but the housing gets very hot when cooking and its opening is much too small to clean. The rod inside the kettle is a lime magnet and is difficult to get lime-free. The lid must be opened manually. Overall, the Bueno does not convince us in any way.
We were even more disappointed with the WMF Stelio . Our model does not sit firmly on the base and therefore wobbles as soon as you touch it. The lid can be opened with one hand at the push of a button, but here too the opening is clearly too small to be able to clean the device properly – and the inner rod is also part of the game. The kettle gets very hot on the outside and the scale is not particularly easy to read. We can therefore not recommend the product.
Recommended Glass Kettle
The Russell Hobbs 21600-70 has a real limescale filter. However, the water flows very slowly from the filter into the jug. You also have to refill several times to fill the kettle to the maximum. When pouring it out, we noticed that the lid does not close completely.
This is the case with some models, but the Russell Hobbs has a very small spout, so that you can tip forward a little too much out of impatience and the water also runs out of the narrow gap between the lid and the rim of the jug.
The Arendo Primewater did not make it to the recommendation because the Aigostar has a larger opening and is therefore easier to clean. The lid on the Arendo also gets quite hot when cooking, because we find the plastic lid of the Aigostar better. You can get an optical highlight here for little money, but since the lid cannot be opened far enough for cleaning, you should very quickly have a kettle made of chalky frosted glass standing around. After all, the Primewater is lighter than the Aigostar.
Under $20 Dollars
With the Severin WK 3485 , the lime sieve of our test device could not be removed, and the lid opened only a crack at the push of a button, so you have to push it in by hand – impractical. There are also many users who complain about poor workmanship and a short lifespan. In any case, our copy survived the test phase, but we definitely believe the criticism.
This also applies to the Clatronic WK 3445 , which like the Severin also has an open heating coil. This has the advantage that the water boils faster, but is very cumbersome to clean. For just a little more money you can drive much better with our test winner. After all, the stove is available in 6 different colors, even if the plastic look is generally not a big ornament in the kitchen.
We hope you enjoy the list about perfect electric kettle for all your need. Feel free to share your feedback in comment.
